Vice President of Global Professional Relations for Henry Schein, Inc., excels in forging public-private partnerships to address complex global health issues, such as advancing access to care through wellness, prevention and treatment programs; strengthening emergency preparedness and relief; and building health care capacity. In this catalyst role, Mr. Kess conceives and advances innovative solutions that provide benefits to multiple stakeholders, shepherding these solutions from conceptualization to effective implementation. Mr. Kess serves as the Founding President of the Henry Schein Cares Foundation, Inc. He has served on the boards of numerous oral health and educational institutions, and is the recipient of many prestigious awards recognizing his career of helping to advance the dental profession and the oral health of the public.
Allen Finkelstein, DDS
Allen L. Finkelstein, DDS, the Chief Executive Officer of Bedford HealthCare Solutions is the former Chief Dental Officer of AmeriChoice/United Health Group.
Dr. Finkelstein an undergrad from the University of Pittsburgh and obtained his graduate degree from Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia. In 2009, Dr. Finkelstein was awarded a Doctor of Humane Letters degree from the A.T. Still University (Hon) and in 2011 was awarded the Dr. Harry Strusser Memorial Award from New York University, College of Dentistry. Dr. Finkelstein is a member of the American Dental Association, the Essex County Dental Association and the dental associations of the States of New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island.
Among many other organizational engagements, Dr. Finkelstein is the former President of the Rockland County Dental Society, former Trustee of the Ninth District Dental Society of the State of New York, former member of New York University College of Dentistry Admission Committee and former Trustee of the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity.
He is a longtime proponent of Integrated Dental and Medical Care and has lectured at dental and medical schools and conferences on the subject of Early Childhood Caries and the need for Medical/Dental Integration to achieve the establishment of a quality outcome based Health Home.
Dr. Finkelstein has passed the National Dental Boards, North East Regional Boards, and is licensed to practice dentistry in New York and New Jersey. He currently maintains a dental practice, specializing in Periodontal Prosthesis located in Great Neck, New York. In Addition, Dr. Finkelstein has been active in many community activities both philanthropies and dental outreach programs for the underserved.
Henry Schein Financial Services
Keith is responsible for Henry Schein Financial Services (“HSFS”), Henry Schein Professional Practice Transitions “HS PPT”) and Henry Schein Associate Dentist Placements. Keith’s team spans fourteen countries.
HSFS provides business solutions for healthcare providers including practice start-up financing, expansion to practice acquisition services HSFS provides customers with access to capital to fulfill their professional goals. Keith also manages HS PPT, a practice brokerage firm engaging in appraisals, consulting and practice sales.
Keith is an active contributor to many facets of the dental industry. He is Treasurer of the Dr. Shils Entrepreneurial Education Fund, a Vice President of American Friends of Dental Volunteers for Israel and Board Member of Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity. He has worked on healthcare industry diversity.
Keith has been interviewed by CBS Small Business Report, Eye on the Markets, Crain’s NY Business and Kiplinger’s Personal Finance. He has lectured nationwide to dental and medical school students and Residents. Keith has taught NYU’s Dental School Continuing Education, Columbia University College of Dental Medicine and written articles for many healthcare periodicals.
Keith is married to a professional volunteer and has two children. He is an Ironman and active marathon runner.
Henry L. Berman
Henry leads Exponent Philanthropy, a vibrant membership organization that amplifies and celebrates the vital work of philanthropists who give big while keeping their operations lean. As CEO since 2011, he brings a firsthand understanding of the needs of philanthropists with few or no staff and a wealth of experience managing people, projects, and budgets in the nonprofit and for-profit sectors.
Recognizing that funders are increasingly using a variety of giving vehicles, in 2014 Henry led the organization through a strategic rebrand from the Association of Small Foundations. His current focus is on ensuring all members—public, private, and community foundations, philanthropic families, and individual donors—connect with others in the organization’s nationwide network, engage with a wide range of resources, and participate in high-quality and cost-effective programming.
Before joining Exponent Philanthropy, Henry had a long career in educational media and technology. He is a founding board member of the Museum of Broadcast Technology and also currently serves on the boards of the Center for Disaster Philanthropy, the National Council of Nonprofits and the Dr. Edward B. Shils Entrepreneurial Fund
Henry earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Ithaca College, a master’s and doctorate in education from Boston University, and a certificate in business and management from the Harvard University Extension School, where he also taught classes in fundraising, development communications and philanthropy. He currently is a lecturer at Columbia University teaching the Role and Unique Nature of the Nonprofit Sector.
Lawrence B. Caplin, DMD
Oral Health Impact Project
Dr. Caplin, Owner and CEO, is a national leader on public health issues stemming from lack of access to dental care in the United States. In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Caplin has the ability to craft and implement solutions for a variety of programs. Over the past 25 years, he has created and operationalized customized solutions for the Buckley Air Force Base; the Army National Guard in various states across the country; Adult and Juvenile Justice Systems throughout 7 States; the foster care system for the City of New York and for various other governmental institutions facing quality and access to care issues. He is also working successfully to improve the dental health of families and individuals in minority communities, and for underserved children in approximately 300 schools in the Philadelphia, Baltimore and Camden School Districts in addition to the Archdioceses schools throughout the Mid Atlantic United States through the award winning Oral Health Impact Project (OHIP). OHIP was founded in 2006 by Dr. Caplin and brings high quality, in-school dental care and long term dental health to children at the greatest risk for dental disease. As Founder and CEO of Dentrust Optimized Care Solutions (DOCS), Dr. Caplin has committed his life’s work to providing healthcare services to our Military servicemen and women, as well as for other diverse and underserved populations. Dr. Caplin will continue his mission serving the healthcare needs of these individuals for years to come.

Lois K. Cohen, Ph.D.
National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research
Lois K. Cohen, PhD serves as a consultant & Paul G. Rogers Ambassador for Global Health Research since her retirement from U.S. government service in 2006. She is a sociologist whose research and health science administration career included service as the Director of Extramural Research, Associate Director for International Health and Director of the WHO Collaborating Center for Dental, Oral & Craniofacial Research and Training, National Institute of Dental & Craniofacial Research, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD. Having authored more than 150 articles in peer-reviewed journals and edited four books on the social sciences and dentistry, she co-directed the WHO International Collaborative Studies of Oral Health Systems.
Having served on several journal boards among them the Journal of the American Dental Association, she co-chairs the Friends of the Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention, and serves on the boards of the Alliance for Oral Health Across Borders, the Edw. B. Shils Entrepreneurial Fund, the Global Advisory Council of the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society, and the Caplin Family Charities. She provides consultation to the NIH, the World Health Organization and its regional offices in Africa and the Americas, the Canadian Institutes for Health Research, various universities and professional associations including the American Dental Association, the FDI World Dental Federation, the American Dental Education Association and others in the area of global health through oral health. Lectures and awards in her honor are presented annually at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, PA and Harvard University’s School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA and at the International Association of Dental Research’s Behavioral, Epidemiological and Health Services Research Group.
Teresa A. Dolan, DDS, MPH
Dr. Teresa Dolan is Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer at Dentsply Sirona and leads the global Clinical Affairs function. Dr. Dolan joined Dentsply Sirona after serving as professor and dean of the University of Florida College of Dentistry from 2003 until 2013. She is recognized for her contributions to dental public health, geriatric dentistry and as a champion for diversity and women in dentistry. Dr. Dolan is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Rutgers University; she earned a DDS degree from the University of Texas and a MPH degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. She was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Dental Health Services Research Scholar, completed a Veterans Administration Fellowship in Geriatric Dentistry, and is a board certified in Dental Public Health.
Dental Trade Alliance Foundation
With a strong background in health care foundation management, Ms. Doyle brings more than 30 years of leadership experience to her role as Executive Director of the Dental Trade Alliance Foundation. Positions held by Ms. Doyle include Executive Director of the Foundation of the Pierre Fauchard Academy; Executive Director of the American Academy of Audiology and the American Academy of Audiology Foundation; Executive Vice President for the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy; and Director of Council Operations for the American College of Radiology.
Ms. Doyle is a Certified Association Executive (CAE) with a Master of Health Services Administration from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina. An avid snowboarder and former professional water skier, Ms. Doyle enjoys active outdoor time with her husband, 5 young adult children, their spouses and 4 grandchildren.
A 28 year veteran of Septodont, Paul has held numerous roles with increasing responsibility. He currently serves as President for the Americas, with P&L responsibilities for North, South, and Central America. He is also Chairman of Septodont’s North American Executive Committee and serves as a member of the corporate Executive Management Committee.
In addition to his company responsibilities Paul is also involved at the Board level with multiple industry related non-profit organizations.
Paul received his BS in Business Management from the University of Pittsburgh and his MBA from Temple University’s Fox School of Business.

Leslie Grant, DDS, MSPA
National Dental Association
Dr. Leslie E. Grant is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina, graduated high school in Gary, Indiana. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree, Cum Laude from Boston University. Dr. Grant obtained her Master of Speech Pathology and Audiology Degree from the University of Washington in Seattle. She has worked at the Washington State Cerebral Palsy Center, The Kennedy Hospital for Children in Boston and for the North Jersey Developmental Center in New Jersey, with physically challenged children.
Dr. Grant received her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in 1986. She completed a General Practice Residency at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson, New Jersey (1987). Currently, Dr. Grant works for the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners as the Chief Dental Officer.
Dr. Grant participates in many professional dental affiliations. She is a member of the National Dental Association, The Academy of General Dentistry, The American Association of Women Dentists, The American Dental Association, the Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP) and The American Speech, Language, Hearing Association. Dr. Grant is a Fellow in both the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. She served as Secretary of the Maryland Dental Society for six years and as a delegate for six years.
Dr. Grants’ NDA activities include serving on the Reference Committee, Chairing the Committee on Constitution and By-Laws and serving as Speaker of the House for five years. She was President of the National Dental Association in 2006, and served as Legislative Chair from 2007 until 2012. She is also the past Chairman of the Board of OSAP, and has served on the Edward Shils Education Fund Board of Directors for several years. In 2006 she was named as one of the “One Hundred + Most Influential African Americans” by Ebony Magazine, and was named as one of Maryland’s “Top 100 Women for 2015.” Dr. Grant’s son, Evan Bush, is a student at the University of Delaware.
R. Ivan Lugo, DMD, MBA

Born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, Dr. Lugo received his B.S. from Syracuse University and earned his doctorate from the University Of Connecticut School Of Dental Medicine. Dr. Lugo completed his clinical residency certificate at the Kornberg School of Dentistry and a Masters in Business Administration from the Fox School of Business at Temple University. As past president of the Hispanic Dental Association, he led the organization through unprecedented growth and under his tenure, the organization published the first Hispanic Oral Health Research Agenda in the United States. As a life-long learner, he continues to further his formal education through biotechnology, leadership, and innovation programs.

Tony has been involved as an executive in the dental industry for over 35 years and is a Past President of the Dental Manufacturers of America, where he enjoyed a close association with Dr. Shils for many years. He is also a former Chairperson of the American Dental Trade Association’s Manufacturer’s Section and World Trade Committees.
Tony is retired and is an active volunteer in local community affairs. He currently serves as Treasurer of the Doylestown, PA Fire Company No. 1 and as a Fire Fighter 1 volunteer. He also serves as a member of the Bucks County CAP (Community Accountability Program), David’s Mentoring/Reentry Program and an Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Eucharistic Minister. He is a native New Yorker and a graduate of City College of New York. He is an avid Sailor and resides with his wife Susan in Bucks County, PA.

Dr. Margaret Scarlett
Margaret Scarlett has worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a Senior Policy Analyst, and is a Public Health Systems Change Expert consultant that helps to advance population health with best evidence at lowest cost, by leading a high level team of organizational, program, scientific and research staff to support advancing health outcomes for populations.

Anthony Volpe, DDS, MS
Colgate-Palmolive Company, Retired
Dr. Volpe has over five decades of experience in clinical dental research, preventive dentistry and dental scientific affairs, as well as over 250 scientific publications and presentations worldwide.He has recently retired as Vice President of Clinical Research and Scientific Affairs from the Colgate-Palmolive Company at it’s Technology Center in Piscataway, New Jersey.
Dr. Volpe has been in dental practice as a general dentist and dental education, teaching pharmacology, preventive dentistry and periodontics.He received a BS in Chemistry from Seton Hall College in 1954 and a DDS from Seton Hall College of Medicine and Dentistry in 1960. Additionally, he served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 and received a MS in Biological Sciences from Rutgers University in 1965.
Dr. Volpe has served on Technical Committees of major worldwide dental organizations, including ADA, NIDCR, IADR, WHO, FDI, and the Forsyth Institute.
Further, he has served as Editor of The Journal of The New Jersey Dental Association and President of the American Dental Association Foundation from 1997 to 2003.
He has been honored to receive several prestigious awards from various dental organizations, such as the American Dental Association’s Distinguished Service Award, the Public Health Dentistry’s Special Merit Award, the Hadassah Special Award from Hebrew University, and the Shils-Meskin Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Field of Clinical Research.
Dr. Volpe has also been awarded the New York State Dental Association’s Excellence Award for Corporate Leadership, the William J. Gies Award as a Private Partner from the American Dental Education Association and a Tribute Acknowledgement Award from Oral Health America.
Vickie is the Vice President and General Counsel of DentalEZ Integrated Solutions, the manufacturer of StarDental, Ramvac, DentalEZ Equipment, NevinLabs and Columbia Dentoform products. She is a native of Philadelphia and graduated from Philadelphia High School for Girls, Temple University and Temple Law School. Vickie currently serves on the board of directors of the Academy of Dentistry International Foundation and Kids Smiles, in addition to serving on the board of the Dr. Edward B. Shils Entrepreneurial Fund. She was the past chairman of the Dental Trade Alliances and served on its board and on the board of its Foundation. She just completed serving on board of Oral Health America. In 2012, Vickie was recognized by Dental Products Reports as one of the Top Women in Dentistry.

George Wolfe is President of DMG America, a leading manufacturer and distributor of quality restorative dental materials and preventive products. George has had the unique experience of literally growing up in the dental trade and manufacturing business, following in his father Herb Wolfe’s footsteps, a long-time figure in the dental industry.
George joined DMG America in 2002, as Director of Product Development. He launched several market-leading DMG products, as well as a completely new brand of dental hygiene materials call Kolorz.
In 2007 George became President of DMG America. His goal for DMG America is continued focus on the growth of the company and the strategic development and launching of high quality innovative products.
George sits on multiple industry and civic boards including Dental Trade Alliance, the Dental Trade Alliance Foundation, the New Jersey Chapter of the Young Presidents’ Organization, the Edward B. Shils Entrepreneurial Fund and the American Dental Assistants Association Foundation.
